DAILY NOTES

Seniors, your ALL class photo will be taken in the gym Thursday at 8:35 AM. After that, the representative from Jostens will talk to you about the graduation packets, ordering cap & gowns and filling out the diploma card! This is very important information. Please be there.

School picture re-takes are tomorrow, Oct. 2nd in the Spirit Room from 8AM-3PM. All 9-11 grade students MUST have their picture taken, as these pictures are used in the Yearbook and for student ID’s. If you had your picture taken in August and are not happy with them you will need to bring the entire picture package back to the photographer when you have your picture retaken.

Attention all students, voting for Homecoming king and queen is open! A form has been sent to you by Joe Doolittle. You have until 3:05 on Thursday to submit your form and cast your vote.  

This Thursday, Oct. 3 the Sophomore class will be in the Auditorium during PLUS period for the class ring presentation by Jostens.  You will not be signing up for plus period during this time.

Registration for AP exams begins on Monday, Oct. 14 will run through Oct. 28.  The cost per exam is $94.  Sign up for the exams in Student Services, preferred payment for the exam is a check made out to Ames High School and is due at the time of registration. Late registration may not be accepted.  Once the tests are ordered from College Board, there will be no full refunds.

The following college representatives will be in Student Services this week. Please see Mrs. Monroe if you need a pass to visit with these college representatives.

Students will report to homeroom at the start of Plus period today. Your homeroom
teacher will inform you of where to sit in the gym for the assembly.

Registration for AP exams begins on Monday, Oct. 14 will run through Oct. 28.  The
cost per exam is $94.  Sign up for the exams in Student Services, preferred payment for
the exam is a check made out to Ames High School and is due at the time of
registration. Late registration may not be accepted.  Once the tests are ordered from
College Board, there will be no full refunds.

Are you a member of Sams club or looking to become a member? Sams club will be
holding its first informational meeting this Thursday. Food will be provided. Meet in Mr.
Sam Reichart’s room #9 during Thursday’s Plus period. Everyone is welcome.

There are still a lot of lost and found items on the table outside of the principal’s office. If you are missing something please check there. All items will be donated at the end of today!!

Madrigal play auditions are today from 3:15 to 4:15 in the choir room. There is no need to prepare anything. They will be cold reads. If you cannot make the auditions, email Travis Cooper to set up and alternate time. 

On Monday Homecoming week will kick off with an assembly during Plus period. Students will report to homeroom first and your homeroom teacher will inform you of where to sit in the gym.

Students, if you start to feel sick at school, you still need to go to the nurse’s office to get checked out.  If you text home and just leave, your absence will be unexcused.   The ladies in the Main Office do not check out students who are going home sick during the day, even if your mom is there waiting for you! This is the process the district requires us to follow.

SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKES OCTOBER 2ND

On Wednesday, October 2 from 8 AM-3:05 PM Lifetouch will be at AHS to take pictures of
students who DID NOT have their pictures taken on August 19, and also for those students who
had their pictures taken but are not happy with their picture package. If you are wanting a
retake, students need to bring their entire picture package back to the photographer when they
have their picture retaken. We encourage all 9th through 11th graders to have their picture
taken regardless of whether a package is purchased. These pictures are used for next year’s
IDs as well as yearbook pictures.
Order envelopes are available in the Principal’s office or order on mylifetouch.com using
picture day ID # BN109007Q1.

DRILL TEAM FUNDRAISER
The AHS Drill Team is selling PINK OUT shirts for the last home football game. The shirts
feature the new logo with- “Class of XXXX” on the back!

HOMECOMING WEEK BEGINS ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30
Homecoming 2019 “Welcome to the Jungle” will kickoff with an Assembly on Monday, Sept. 30
during Plus Period in the gym. The weekly activities are as followed,

Monday: Class colors, Freshman-red, Sophomore-blue, Junior-yellow, Senior-purple, Teachers-
black) 6:30 Parade.

Tuesday: Tacky tourist day, Movie night with popcorn and bake sale.
Wednesday: Animal print day, Survival games.
Thursday: Theme shirts, Survival games cont.
Friday: Gameday shirts, football game
Saturday: Dance

HOMECOMING DANCE REMINDERS
Out of school dates must have a signed Guest Request form turned in and approved by
Wednesday, October 2nd at 3:00 PM.
NO 8th graders. Bring your school ID to the dance. The dance begins at 8:30 PM and ends at
11:00 PM. No admittance after 10:00 PM. Once a person leaves the dance (goes outside the
school building), s/he is not allowed to return. Parents picking up their students are asked to
pick them up by 11:00 PM.

Would you like to get volunteering hours, develop your leadership skills, and make new friends? Come join Key Club, the largest student-led service organization in the world. There is no plus period today due to the early out, so we will meet right after dismissal from 1:30-2:00 in the multi-purpose room instead. See you then!

College Bound is a mentoring program aimed at all high school female and female identifying students that is sponsored by Ames YWCA. Iowa State has over 100 female mentors ready to mentor AHS students. An informational meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 3:15-4:30 in the Multi-purpose room. Sign up on Mrs. Muhammad’s office door in student services to RSVP for a pizza head count.

Mitchell Elementary School was one of three elementary schools in Ames (Edwards and Meeker being the other two) that was part of the April 2018 successful bond referendum for elementary school building additions. We reviewed current enrollment, near-term predictable enrollment, and projected future enrollment and determined the most urgent need for additional space is at Mitchell Elementary.

Ames High’s FCA – Fellowship of Christians at Ames- will meet tonight at 5:30 in Mrs. Dobernecker’s room #34.  There will be supper and a guest. Everyone is welcome!
