ODD Block Day

Any student interested in auditioning for the Feature Twirler position with the Ames High Marching band should stop by the band office to sign up and collect audition information.

Join the new club “TableTop Games” during plus and after school on Wednesday’s in Mrs. Dunkin’s room #24.

This year’s Speech Showcase will be held at the Ames High Auditorium on Thursday, April 28th at 7 pm. Come watch this year’s Ames High All-State nominated large group and individual performances. Admission is free, but we will be taking a free will donation to help fund next year’s contests.

Students – Sgt. Kane with the Air Force will have a table in the main lobby during all three lunches on Wednesday, April 27.

Ames High Young Americans for Freedom will be having a meeting this Friday, April 29th, during plus period in Mr. Krajnovich’s room (room 16). We will be discussing recently passed laws in Iowa, including HF802, and the implications that they have on our learning. Anyone interested in talking about current events or learning more about YAF should attend.

P7 club will host a meeting this Friday in Mrs. Jurgensen’s room (Rm 7) during plus period! There will be a devotional and snacks. If you’re looking for a group of friends to study the bible with or some encouragement at the end of a busy school day, this club is for you! 

Join the Ames High Independents throughout the week to support Ames High’s annual voter registration drive. Instead of meeting after school as usual, members will instead be volunteering to pass out information in the main entrance before or after school. Please see the club’s Google Classroom page for information about how you can help with the drive. Volunteers needed for any duration of time!

The Friends of Ames Strings- Mary Kay Polashek Scholarship application deadline is April 30, 2022.  We are looking for high school seniors planning to continue music studies after graduation. Majoring in music is not a requirement. Do you demonstrate dedication to continued music study, passion for sharing music with others, and determination to grow as a musician? If so, please apply:


Come over to Tibben’s Room 48 on May 6th to join the gaming club in a nostalgic Wii sports tournament.  Sign up info is on posters around the school or email Shaun Carver or Ian Kumsher. We will not have walk-ins, no sign-up fees. 

United Way is hosting a food drive from April 25-May 4th. Boxes for donations can be found in the following teacher’s classrooms: 

Ulloa, Grapp, Engelkes, Knopf, Martinez, Brenneman, Muhammad, Tibben, Gillette and Strong.

Canned and non-perishable items are encouraged, as are hygiene products. For monetary donations, the United Way Venmo is posted on flyers around the school. The teacher with the most items will receive a prize to be passed out to their classes. Ames High is competing against Gilbert, Ballard, and Nevada schools for total items collected.

Today’s lunch is Sloppy Joe and Tater Tots.

Next week Young Democrats, Ames High Independents, and Young Americans for Freedom will be holding a Voter Registration Drive. It will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the front entryway. Anyone 17 and older who is a Citizen may register. To register all you need is your driver’s licence number or your Social Security number. Come to the front entryway before school, after school, or during lunch to get registered and get a treat.
