EVEN Block Day
Any student interested in auditioning for the Feature Twirler position with the Ames High Marching band should stop by the band office to sign up and collect audition information.
Join the new club “TableTop Games”during plus and after school Wednesday in Mrs. Dunkin’s room.
This year’s Speech Showcase will be held at the Ames High Auditorium on Thursday, April 28th at 7 pm. Come watch this year’s Ames High All-State nominated large group and individual performances. Admission is free, but we will be taking a free will donation to help fund next year’s contests.
Attention Juniors! If you are interested in being a SENIOR MENTOR for next year, please sign up in Ms. DiBlasi’s office. Senior mentors help freshmen transition to high school by helping with the first day of school and visiting assigned homerooms. Please note that you will be asked to purchase a senior mentor t-shirt before the end of this school year.
Juniors and Seniors who have been issued a blue Furman parking tag, you may now bring your tag to the Main Office to exchange it for an orange, AHS student parking lot hang tag. Hang tag exchanges will only be granted for individuals without outstanding parking tickets. Please be prepared to pay off any tickets you may have prior to receiving your orange tag.
Students – Sgt. Kane with the Air Force will have a table in the main lobby during all three lunches on Wednesday, April 27.
Come over to Tibben’s Room 48 on May 6th to join the gaming club in a nostalgic Wii sports tournament. Sign up info is on posters around the school or email Shaun Carver or Ian Kumsher. We will not have walk-ins, no sign-up fees.
United Way is hosting a food drive from April 25-May 4th. Boxes for donations can be found in the following teacher’s classrooms:
Ulloa, Grapp, Engelkes, Knopf, Martinez, Brenneman, Muhammad, Tibben, Gillette and Strong.
Canned and non-perishable items are encouraged, as are hygiene products. For monetary donations, the United Way Venmo is posted on flyers around the school. The teacher with the most items will receive a prize to be passed out to their classes. Ames High is competing against Gilbert, Ballard, and Nevada schools for total items collected.
Today’s lunch is Mini Turkey Corn Dogs, Boston Baked Beans and FreshBaked Biscuit.
Next week Young Democrats, Ames High Independents, and Young Americans for Freedom will be holding a Voter Registration Drive. It will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the front entryway. Anyone 17 and older who is a Citizen may register. To register all you need is your driver’s licence number or your Social Security number. Come to the front entryway before school, after school, or during lunch to get registered and get a treat.
