NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED STUDENTS

Congratulations to ten AHS students who were named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Program. The AHS National Merit Commended students are: Jay Amin, Daniel Andreotti, Jonah DeGeest, JoAnna Held, Alexander Palensky, Dagney Paskach, Emily Rehmann, Kaleb Stevens, Jack Wannarka and Shaochong Wei. Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for Merit Scholarship® awards, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

No admittance after 10:00 pm. Doors open at 8:30 pm and the dance ends at 11 pm.

No re-admittance to the dance once you leave.

DISTRICT WIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY

There is no school on Monday, October 5, district wide.

AMES HIGH BLOOD DRIVE

The Ames High Senior Senate will hold its semi-annual blood drive on Friday, October 9 from 8:00-2:00.  Pre-registration will be Thursday, October 3 through Thursday, October 8 in the front lobby of the school.  Parents and community members are welcome to donate by signing up online at bloodcenterofiowa.org. Did you know that one-pint of blood can save up to three lives? Just think how many lives we can save!!
