Parents of Juniors – An evening program has been planned by the counselors to outline the post secondary planning process. The program will be held on Monday, November 9th, at 6:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The counselors will be outlining the processes and procedures for families to follow in order to successfully determine a student’s option(s) for post secondary schooling.  Examples of the topics to be addressed are the following:

·      What Kind of College Meets Your Needs

·      Making the Most of the College Visit

·      Organizing the Application Process

·      Financing College Expenses

Family Connection will also be introduced to parents. Through Family Connection, students can search for colleges that match their interests/needs, compare and match colleges, request transcripts, view scholarship information, and view when college representatives are scheduled to visit Ames High. Students can also monitor the status of their college applications.

Parents unable to attend the program may pick up the material prepared by the counselors the following day in Student Services. A valuable packet of information printed by the Iowa College Access Network will also be distributed at the program.
