The “Oh no” AP Psych Review is this Saturday from noon-1:30 in Mr. Stevens room. We’ll do another practice test and then address any questions you have.

Prom tickets go on sale Monday, May 2nd. Tickets will be sold outside of room 229 (Mrs. Zeiss’ room) before and after school and in the auxiliary office during all three lunches. Tickets are $20 each and prom is from 9-11:30 PM (doors close at 10). You must purchase a ticket before prom–you will NOT be able to buy a ticket at the dance. Please make sure to bring your school ID to the dance. And a reminder that out of school guest forms are due on Wednesday May 4th. If you have any questions please talk to Mrs. Zeiss in room 229. 

Ames High Young Americans for Freedom will be having a meeting today during plus period in Mr. Krajnovich’s room (room 16). We will be discussing recently passed laws in Iowa, including HF802, and the implications that they have on our learning. Anyone interested in talking about current events or learning more about YAF should attend.

P7 club will host a meeting today in Mrs. Jurgensen’s room (Rm 7) during plus period! There will be a devotional and snacks. If you’re looking for a group of friends to study the bible with or some encouragement at the end of a busy school day, this club is for you! 

Seniors – Applications for the Ripp Family Scholarship, the Ames High School Alumni Association Scholarship, and the AHS Class of 1964 Scholarship are available in Naviance. The deadline for filing is Monday, May 2nd. Please check Naviance for the eligibility requirements for all three scholarships. Check with your counselor or Mrs. Monroe in Student Services with questions.

 AP Testing Begins May 2 Students who have signed up for AP tests this spring need to check the testing schedule posted in AP classrooms and in Student Services. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the testing area. Students need to bring #2 pencils, a black or blue pen, and a calculator for math and science exams.

Juniors and seniors see the email sent to you on Thursday to sign up for Post Prom.

You have the opportunity to host an international guest!  Anyone interested in hosting an international guest between September 19th and October 2nd, 2022 please see Mr. Reichart in Room 9 or email him directly at sam.reichart@ames.k12.ia.us for information on who is available and how to host a guest.  Your help is greatly appreciated as we resume our student exchanges!

The Friends of Ames Strings- Mary Kay Polashek Scholarship application deadline is April 30, 2022.  We are looking for high school seniors planning to continue music studies after graduation. Majoring in music is not a requirement. Do you demonstrate dedication to continued music study, passion for sharing music with others, and determination to grow as a musician? If so, please apply.

Come over to Tibben’s Room 48 on May 6th to join the gaming club in a nostalgic Wii sports tournament.  Sign up info is on posters around the school or email Shaun Carver or Ian Kumsher. We will not have walk-ins, no sign-up fees. 

United Way is hosting a food drive from April 25-May 4th. Boxes for donations can be found in the following teacher’s classrooms: 

Ulloa, Grapp, Engelkes, Knopf, Martinez, Brenneman, Muhammad, Tibben, Gillette and Strong.

Canned and non-perishable items are encouraged, as are hygiene products. For monetary donations, the United Way Venmo is posted on flyers around the school. The teacher with the most items will receive a prize to be passed out to their classes. Ames High is competing against Gilbert, Ballard, and Nevada schools for total items collected.

Attention all students and staff: Ms. K.’s Entrepreneurship 1 students will be hosting a Market Day on Tuesday, May 10th during all lunch periods. It will be located in the lunchroom. Market Day is a pop-up market where my entrepreneurship students will be selling homemade products and other items to gain experience planning and operating a business. Some of the items for sale include: tie-dye t-shirts and sweatshirts, school supplies baskets, homemade paper goods, macrame and pom pom animal keychains, movie buckets, artwork, candy, inspirational t-shirts, and BLM sweatshirts. We don’t have the capability to run cards, so please bring some cash if you would like to shop. Items range in prices from $1.00-$40.00. It will be a one day event!

Today’s lunch is Breaded BBQ Chicken Drumstick, Mexican Street Corn and Cornbread.
