Device Collection Process

As the school year is nearing a close, here is our device collection process across the District. If you have any questions, please email: acsdtechsupport@ames.k12.ia.us.

Northwood (Preschool and EK): 

In-Person & Remote: School Chromebooks and mobile hotspots can be returned to the Northwood office for in-person students now. Remote students can return their device to Northwood on Friday, June 11 from 7:45-4:00 PM or Monday, June 14th from 8:00 to 4:00 PM. Devices can also be returned to the district office, 2005 24th Street, during the week of June 14 between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 PM.

Elementary: 

K-4 In-Person: Your student’s Chromebook will be collected during the last week of school and stored over the summer. If you have a mobile hotspot, please return it to the school office.

K-4 Remote: Chromebooks and mobile hotspots can be returned to your child’s school at the following date and time:

  • Edwards: Thursday, June 10, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Fellows: Thursday, June 10, 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
  • Meeker: Thursday, June 10, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Mitchell: Thursday, June 10, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Sawyer: Friday, June 11, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Alternatively, your student’s devices can be returned to the district office, 2005 24th Street, during the week of June 14 between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 PM.

5th Grade: Your student will KEEP their Chromebook over the summer and take it with them to 6th grade. If you have a mobile hotspot, please return it to the school office. It remains the property of the Ames Community School District and will continue to be filtered according to policy. Technology support will not be available, and devices will be repaired when students return in the fall. If you do NOT want to keep your student’s Chromebook or are leaving the district, it can be returned during the dates and times listed above and will be transported to the middle school in the fall.

Middle School:

6th-8th: Your student will KEEP their Chromebook over the summer and take it with them to the next grade level. If you have a mobile hotspot, please return it to the school office. It remains the property of the Ames Community School District and will continue to be filtered according to district policy. Technology support will not be available, and devices will be repaired when students return in the fall. If you do NOT want to keep your student’s device or are leaving the district, it can be returned to Ames Middle School on Friday, June 11 from 8:00 to 4:00 PM or returned to the district office during the week of June 14 between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 PM.

High School:

9th-11th: Your student will KEEP their device over the summer and take it with them to the next grade level. If you have a mobile hotspot, please return it to the school office. It remains the property of the Ames Community School District and will continue to be filtered according to district policy. Technology support will not be available, and devices will be repaired when students return in the fall. If you do NOT want to keep your student’s device or are leaving the district, it can be returned to the building on June 11, 8 – 3:30 pm or returned to the district office during the week of June 14 between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 PM

12th Grade: Already communicated to seniors.
