Delivery Model After Winter Break

Delivery Model After Winter Break

Throughout winter break, Ames CSD staff will be monitoring our local conditions. If our conditions continue to improve, we could make a recommendation to return PK-5 face-to-face on January 4, 2021. While it is too early to make that decision, we wanted you to know that all options will be considered.

Our secondary students (6-12) will continue in Hybrid through the end of the semester with the hope of returning fully face-to-face at the start of the second semester. Regardless of the learning model that students are in, our 100% remote campus will continue to be an option for families.

School Board Meeting (December 29, 2020)

If local conditions over the next two weeks indicate that a delivery model change is needed, the school board will meet on Tuesday, December 29 at 9:00 a.m. to act on the recommendation from Superintendent Risner. If local conditions indicate that the Hybrid delivery model should be continued, the board meeting will be canceled. The meeting will be held via Zoom at the URL below.

Mitigation Measures

Each building has developed specific plans that incorporate mitigation strategies for COVID-19. The primary measures include the use of masks, regular handwashing, and sanitizing practices. In the event that we return to 100% face-to-face instruction, social distancing cannot be guaranteed 100% of the time in the classroom or while at lunch. We will continue to social distance to the greatest extent possible throughout the building.

Delivery Model Change Request

We are opening up our ACSD Learning Delivery Model Change Request form for the start of the new year and second semester with transition dates outlined below. The form continues to be active for families who would like to select the 100% online Remote Campus option. When requested, that transition can take up to 5 days. The key dates below are for families who wish to return to building-based on-site instruction, whether that be Hybrid or 100% face-to-face.

Given the possibility of our return to 100% face-to-face instruction for PK-5, the first deadline is only for students PK-5. The second date of January 17, 2021, is for all students PK-12 and will be the final deadline to request building-based on-site instruction for the rest of the school year. The Remote Campus option will continue to be available.

Key Dates:

January 1, 2021 PK-5 first date to request building-based on-site instruction with a transition date on January 4, 2021.

  • Note: if you would prefer to know what delivery model the District will be in on January 4, 2021, please wait to fill out this form until after the school board meeting on December 29, 2020.
  • If you are in Remote Campus and know that you would like to return to building-based instruction, either Hybrid or 100% face-to-face, you can fill out the form now with a January 4, 2021 transition date.

January 17, 2021 – Final deadline for students PK-12 to request building-based on-site instruction for the rest of the school year. The transition date will be February 1, 2021, which is the start of the second semester.

Who needs to fill out this form?

Only students who are requesting a change in delivery model need to fill out this form. For example:

  • Students who are currently in Remote Campus, but would like to attend in the District-selected building-based delivery model (Hybrid or 100% Face-to-Face).
  • Students who are currently in Hybrid but would like to attend the 100% online Remote Campus model.

Note: if you are in your preferred delivery model (Remote Campus online or building-based), then you do not need to fill out this form.
