Lana LaSalle Fellows Elementary

We are pleased to announce Lana LaSalle as the new principal of Fellows Elementary School starting in the 2019-2020 school year. LaSalle has served as an elementary principal in the Bettendorf Community School District since 2012 and has vast knowledge in the areas of math and literacy curriculum. She has also been instrumental in providing professional development opportunities for staff in her district.

In addition to a Masters degree in curriculum and instruction, LaSalle most recently received a Masters degree in Educational Administration from St. Ambrose University. She is currently a second-year doctoral student at Drake University.

One area in which LaSalle stood out from the pool of candidates was in the area of equity. She served as the equity coordinator in Bettendorf for 3 years and also has experience implementing positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS). Both of these are areas of focus for the Ames Community School District, and areas in which LaSalle will be able to provide valuable insight as we move forward.

The school board will be presented with her contract at the July 8, 2019 board meeting, with a start date of July 15, 2019. As a District, we are excited to begin working with Ms. LaSalle and look forward to the leadership that she will bring to the Ames Community School District.
