    Ames Community School District Early Learning Programs



    Early Kindergarten

    Early Kindergarten is a program that has been offered as an option for children who may be considered not quite ready for a formal kindergarten program. Children must be 5 years old by September 15th to be considered for this program. Complete the form for Early Kindergarten located on this page and send to Northwood Preschool Center. Registration will be held at the same time as the ACSD Kindergarten Registration.


    EARLY KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS:


    Parents/guardians should bring the following documentation:
    ♦ Original birth certificate or duplicate with raised seal
    ♦ Additional copy of birth certificate for district to keep on file
    ♦ Proof of Residency (for example: lease, mortgage, house title, utility bill with address stated)
    ♦ Adoption or Guardianship papers, if applicable
    ♦ Emergency contact name, address and phone number(s)
    ♦ Copy of immunizations (if not up-to-date, must be received prior to first day of school)

2011-2012 Preschool Information

The Ames Community Schools Preschool Program provides opportunities for children who are 4 years old on or before September 15, to access quality learning experiences and enter school ready to learn. Licensed Early Childhood teachers provide preschool instruction. The program also provides opportunities such as home visits, family nights and teacher conferences.

Half-day sessions are available at all sites, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Northwood Preschool Center: 8:35 – 11:30 a.m. or 12:25 – 3:20 p.m. (No wrap-around care.)
