Happy Monday Kate Mitchell Families,

I don’t know about you, but we’re starting to not think the winter wonderland outside is not so wonderful… We do hope everyone stayed safe this weekend and are looking ahead accordingly as our next snow system is set to start Tuesday night and finish it’s arrival Wednesday morning. Wit this in mind, please be conscious of the roads when traveling, the crews can only work so fast during systems like the one that hit Saturday night and our main priority is the safety of our students and staff. Like always, if we have a change to our schedule, you will be notified and the major news stations will be reporting the update.

Now that the less fun topic has been covered, let’s move on to all the exciting things we have ramping up at our amazing school! Friday we will have a school full of amazingly creative animals instead of students (it’s dress like an animal day) as part of our Student Council sponsored school spirit days. Dressing like animals is coordinating with our Carnival on Saturday.

We hope to see everyone for A Trip Through the Safari starting at 4 pm on Saturday. We still need plenty of volunteers to help make this event happen, if we don’t have enough people to work all the games, we will have to cancel what was planned for that room (bummer). This is a great opportunity to get older siblings and family friends involved. If you know anyone that would be interested in giving up some of their time and providing to an amazing event at the school on Saturday, please pass along this link.

Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th we will be having a Mitchell Culver’s Night Fundraiser from 5-7. If you or someone you know would like to be a greeter and deliver food to tables that night, we could sure use a few more hands at this fundraiser. Please follow t his link to see if one of the open times works for you.

Before we know it March will be here! And we all know that means conferences and spring break. We have so much going on in March, it can be hard to keep track of. Hopefully the following list will help ease the confusion slightly for all of you.

  • 8th – No School for Elementary Buildings

  • 11th, 13th, & 14th – Conferences, See below for our conference schedule

  • 14th & 15th – No School for EK – 5th grade

  • 18th – 22nd – Spring Break – No School District Wide

  • 25th – PTA meeting at 6:30 in the Media Center

  • 28th – PTA sponsored Mitchell Magic Night starting at 6 pm

Conference week will look like it did this fall, Monday we will have conferences from 3:45 to 7:55, Wednesday starting at 2:15 and ending at 6:30, and Wednesday they will begin at 8:00 and wrap up at 12:00. The book fair will be taking place again in the room next to our 2nd grade classrooms during our conference times. Please stop in to look at the amazing selection Follett will be sending us and consider gifting a book to a classroom from the teacher’s wish list.

After spring break the rest of the year will be flying by, summer will be here before we all know it and all these amazing, smart and wonderful student will be on summer break – YIKES! (Or maybe these warm thoughts can keep us all going while nature dumps more snow on us).
