SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKES
On Wednesday, October 17 from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM Lifetouch will be at AHS to take pictures of
students who DID NOT have their pictures taken on August 13, and also for those students who
had their pictures taken but are not happy with their picture package. If you desire a retake,
students need to bring their entire picture package back to the photographer when they have
their picture retaken. We encourage all 9th through 11th graders to have their picture taken
regardless of whether a package is purchased. These pictures are used for next year’s IDs as
well as yearbook pictures.

Parents can go to mylifetouch.com to place orders and the code is BN108007Q1.
I have attached the link. https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/pictureDayId/BN108007Q1

Announcement orders. Families can also order on line at www.iowagradshop.com.

Basic cap & gown package. ALSO, the Lifetouch representative will be collecting order

WINTER CHEER TRYOUTS
Are you interested in becoming an Ames High Cheerleader? Winter Cheer is coming up, so now
is your chance! The winter squad cheers for girls/boys basketball, wrestling, and hockey.
Tryouts will be held SATURDAY, OCTOBER 20th from 1:00-5:00pm in the AHS Spirit Room.
Attendance is required at the October 20th practice/tryouts in order to become a member of the
team. We welcome those with previous cheer experience as well as newcomers to the sport.
Please wear athletic or cheer shoes as well as shorts and a t-shirt or tank top. Pick up a tryout
packet in the athletic office or email Coach Logan for a digital
copy. dana.logan@ames.k12.ia.us. Packets must be turned in on the day of tryouts!

COMBAT HUNGER RIVALRY WEEK
Next week Ames High is partnering with the Food Bank of Iowa and Star 102.5 to provide food
for children, families, and seniors living in Iowa. We are competing against Urbandale High
School to see who can collect the most non-perishable food items and monetary donations in
one week. At Friday’s football game against Urbandale, the items and donations will be added
up to see which school raised the most. We would love for parents to bring non-perishable food
items before the game to help our cause and for every two items, you’ll receive a ticket for a
free popcorn! Along with food, any monetary donations will be accepted at the game. Go Little
Cyclones!

The Ames High Academic and Arts Booster Club (AABC) needs your help. Please consider a donation that goes directly to students and educators for unique, creative, and innovative learning experiences. AABC supports academic activities, as well as the visual and performing arts at Ames High through supplemental funding.

Some of our previous grant recipients include support of the Pollinator Project, which involves all high school biology students, and funding for the annual Great Gatsby party. These educational experiences are enhanced by AABC funding and encourage our students to be lifelong learners. Please send your contribution to AABC, c/o Ames High School, 1921 Ames High Drive, Ames, IA  50010.

PROCEDURES FOR DR. APPOINTMENTS

If you are planning to take your student to a doctor appointment during the school day, it is helpful to notify the attendance secretary, via note or phone call 515-817-0601, the morning of the appointment.   If your student will need a pass to leave during a class, he/she can get a paper pass to show the teacher before class instruction begins. This saves the secretaries from interrupting classes during instruction time.   Secretaries are not encouraged to call the teacher during class instruction to pull a child out of class. The pass the student should have can be picked up in the main office the same school day of the appointment. Once the student has that pass, he/she does not need to stop back in the office on the way out of the building.  If the student is coming back to school after an appointment, then he/she should “check in” at the office again.
