PSAT/NMSQT – SIGN UP 

This week, September 11th – 15th is the time to sign-up for the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test)   The cost for the test is $16.00, Please pay by check – made payable to Ames High School. See Mrs Evans in Student Services to sign up. The test will be given at Ames High on Wednesday, October 11th.

 National Honors Society’s first meeting will be this coming Thursday September 14th in the multi-media center during 2ndlunch.  If you can’t make it, please make sure you get a hold of someone to get the information.   See you there!

 Attention all students interested in the Science Olympiad:  We will have an organizational meeting on Monday , Sept. 18th right after school in Mr. Reichert’s room.   If you cannot be there please have a friend sign you up or email Mrs. Barbour at peg.barbour@gmail.com.

 Applications to be on this year’s Scratch Pad Editorial Board are now available.  Stop by Mr. Woolery’s room and pick up an application if you are interested.   Submissions close this Friday. 

 Ames High Young Americans for Freedom Club will meet this Friday.   Sign up under Mr. Flannery’s name in Flexisched if you want to discuss politics.  

 

The Gourmet Cooking Club is meeting this Friday after school.   There will be an optional plus period in Mrs. V’s room to read the recipe for cream puffs.   Then after school, you will make those cream puffs and eat them.   Yum!

 Ames High Chess Club is having its’ first meeting this Tuesday, September 12th after school at 3:15.   All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to come to Ms. C’s, room 229, to play.  Hope to see you there.

Applications to be on this year’s Scratch Pad Editorial Board are now available. Scratch Pad is Ames High’s art and literary magazine made up of entirely student work. Members of the board will meet weekly to review and discuss student submissions and assist in publishing the anthology in the spring. If being on the board interests you, stop by Mr. Woolery’s room or the club fair to pick up an application- submissions close Friday, September 15th.

 A representative from Dartmouth College will be in Student Services today at 2:00 pm.   Please see Mrs. Evans in Student Services if you need a pass to visit with them.

This is a reminder that tomorrow is the Club Fair.   This annual event will be held in the Cafeteria during both lunches.   Students will have the opportunity to visit with club leaders, look at their displays, and hopefully get involved in some of the great activities we have here at Ames High.

 Come to the tastiest club at Ames High! The Gourmet Cooking Club is dedicated to cooking good food and eating it. If you’re interested, visit club fair, where there’ll be samples of chocolate mousse and more information on our club.

This is a reminder to all students that there will be an assembly after Homeroom today.  
The Assembly schedule is below daily notes . 

 Yearbooks are in! If you ordered a 2016-2017 yearbook last year, we will be distributing them this week. Yearbooks will be distributed after school in the cafeteria, and then before and after school and over lunch in main lobby today.  If you did not yet purchase one, it’s not too late! They are still available to purchase for $55. Thanks!

 Students, if you are planning to attend the football game this evening, please remain in the stands during the football game.   Students are not hang out behind the bleachers or in the concession stand area while the game is going on.  Thank you in advance for supporting our team, cheerleaders, and band.

Reminder to all students. Parking on the curb is NOT permitted until after
3:15. Anybody caught parking on the curb before this time will get a $20.00
fine.

Students that use the cafeteria patio are reminded to dispose of all food and
drink items when they are finished eating. Please do not leave garbage of
any kind out there for others to pick

Students are reminded that homeroom meets after 6th period today.

Student Activity Tickets are now needed for entry into any Ames High Athletic event or CIML road event – Students if you do not have this pass or sticker then you will be asked to pay the regular admission rate. See Bridget McCarley in the front office to purchase.


Anyone wanting a copy of the 2017 issue of Scratch Pad should stop by Mr. Schmidt’s room 225.  The cost is $5.00.

Students may not bring backpacks or computers to the cafeteria or cafeteria patio during the lunch periods. Leave your backpacks and computers in your locker when you go to the cafeteria for lunch.

All students should have a student ID. If you did not receive an ID or if you feel you should have an open lunch/campus sticker or Activity sticker on your ID and you do not, please see Mrs. McCarley in the office off the lobby during your free time.

 

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT, Monday, August 28

Back to School Night starts with 1st period at 6:15 PM and will be followed by eight 8-minute periods. Since Back to School Night usually attracts nearly 1,000 adults, an early arrival will be helpful.

ALP AND ELP MEETINGS at 5:45

If you are the parent of a child in ALP or ELP, there will be some meetings prior to the Back to School Night activities. 

ALP parents will meet in Rm 18

9th grade ELP parents will meet in the Auditorium

10th-12th grade parents will meet in the Multi-Purpose Room.
