DAILY NOTES –

Auditions for AHS Musical “Babes in Arms” will be Tuesday, Nov. 14.  If you are interested in auditioning, please see Mrs. Dieter in the Vocal Music Room for audition materials and details.

There will be a mandatory Basketball meeting for all boys grades9-12 planning on going out this year. the meeting is this Wednesday at 2:10 in the Athletic’s film room.

Girls Swim & Dive State Meet Tickets

Be a part of the championship tradition! Don’t wait to buy your e-ticket to the Iowa State Swimming and Diving Meet being held on November 3-4 at the Marshalltown YMCA. Tickets must be purchased online at https://gofan.co/app/school/IGHSAU. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Go Little Cyclones!

 The Little Cyclones Spirit Webstore is now open. Order your Little Cyclone apparel at https://sk.four51ordercloud.com/AmesK12/catalog/AHS. This winter’s inventory includes fan favorites as well as sweatshirts and spirit wear perfect for a long, cold season. Pay by credit card and have your order shipped directly to your home or school. The AHS Winter Kick-Off is November 16, at 6 pm in the Gym. Our Basketball, Boys Swim, Wrestling and Cheer teams and squads will be introduced.  Parent meetings will conclude the evening’s activities. Concessions and spirit wear will be available.

 BLOOD FACT OF THE DAY: Although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10 percent of that eligible population actually do each year. Senior Senate will be holding its semi-annual blood drive on Friday, November 10 from 8:00-2:00.  You can register in the front lobby or ROOM 26. This is a great opportunity to help save a life…so please, take time and donate!!

Congratulations to the Swimming & Diving team for their 11th consecutive Regional team championship. The Little Cyclones won all 12 of the 12 events, set 8 pool records, and 3 school records in their state qualifying meet.

Jayna Misra, Josi Buss and Kaylee Clendenen went 1,2,3 in diving and all qualified.



All three relays set pool records.  Amy Feddersen set two new school records in the 50 and 100 Free, and Sophie Sorenson set two new pool records in the 200 M and 100 Backstroke.



All in all, the girls team qualified 11 swimmers and 3 divers.  Swimming qualifiers are:

Annie Galvin, Molly Winer, Mia Moulden, Sophie Sorenson, Brinley Horras,  Olivia Jenks, Delaney Ryken, Jazlyn Horras,  Amy Feddersen, Gracie Wesselmann, and Kirsti Robertson.



You should purchase your ticket online before the state meet this weekend.  If you have any questions on how to purchase a ticket, please see Coach Flannery in Room 18.

Lets pack the Marshalltown YMCA pool this Saturday at 12:00!

Conferences are Wednesday (November 1) from 4:00-7:30 PM; and Thursday (November 2) from 8:00-11:30 & 12:30 – 3:00 PM.

Attention students planning to take the ACT or SAT this fall:   Do you remember that check your parents gave you?   The one for the Prep classes?    Please try to get them in this week, and don’t wait until the last minute.    Checks should be made out to Ames High School.  The first prep session starts Nov. 6th.

The National Honor Society will have their October meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24th during 2nd lunch in the Multi-purpose room.   Please let Mrs. C or one of the NHS leaders know if you cannot make it.

Are you interested in an internship at Iowa State University?  Applications are now available for ISU internships for the spring semester.  Come to the ELP alcove to pick up an application. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Skaar for more information. Applications are due November 2.

 Any student interested in taking AP Microeconomics or AP Macroeconomics for the spring semester should stop in the ELP alcove to pick up an application. You will need to have one free period (not necessarily the same period each day) open in your spring schedule to accommodate one of these classes. Applications will be due October 26.

If you cannot go to tonight’s game,  you can still catch the action because the game will be broadcast on Iowa Catholic Radio and webcast on CISN.TV.   Tune in and cheer on the Little Cyclones.

National Honor Society members, just a reminder that our October meeting will be on next Tuesday, Oct. 24th during 2nd lunch in the Multi-purpose room.   Please let Mrs. C or one of the NHS leaders know if you cannot make it.

Heads Up everybody.   

Friday nights game against Dowling will be broadcast on Iowa Catholic Radio and webcast on CISN.TV.  If you can’t make it to the game, you can tune in and still support the little cyclones.

So…..If you are a ninth grader, and you did not pick up your 8th grade yearbook yesterday at lunch, there is only one way to get them now.   You must go see Mrs. McCarley in the Associate Principal’s office.  That is who has them now.
