DAILY NOTES

Due to the deteriorating weather conditions, Ames Community Schools is canceling evening activities starting after 5:00 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 11, 2019. The Ames CSD School Board will still hold its regular business meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the District Office.

Sepcial Scehdule on Wednesday

Ames high school will not open until 10:00 AM on Wednesday. There will be no morning athletic/activity practices. 

Buses will pick up 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes) AFTER the normal Wednesday times and drop the students off at school at 10:15 AM.

Fellowship of Christians at Ames will be decorating valentines tonight at 5:30 in room 34.  Everyone is welcome.  Come and help us decorate cookies and eat a few too! Hope to see you there!

For all boys interested in information for playing soccer this spring. There will be a short meeting after school Tuesday in the athletic’s video room. See Mr. Zmolek with questions.

Juniors and Seniors with first period study hall, if you’re interested in reading questions for the Elementary School Quiz Bowls, email Jinal Amin or Mr. Gorman to find times that work for you.

To learn more about the biggest youth water organization in the world, come join Key Club on Thursday, February 14th for a presentation by the Thirst Project! Everyone is welcome to attend! Sign up under Mrs. Gillette’s name for plus period, and the meeting is in room 121, Mr. Sullivan’s room. See you there!

AHS Spectrum and the UUFA Youth Group invite you to join them for a night of dancing, fun and food at the annual It’s Okay With Me Dance on Saturday, Feb. 16th from 7-10 PM held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames, 1015 North Hyland Ave. All high school students are welcome. Admission is $5 at the door, all proceeds benefit the Trevor Project.

Attention current Thespians, especially senior member, and drama members, please come to Mr. Woolery’s room for Plus Period on Thursday, Feb. 14th to discuss the possibility of an event.

Any current sophomore or junior with a GPA of 3.4+ are eligible to apply for National Honor Society for the 2019-2020 school year. Applications are available online at bit.ly/amesnhs or in the main office. Deadline for accepting applications is Friday, March 8th at 3:05 PM. Any questions can be sent to Ms. C in room 229.

Attention students planning to take the ACT or SAT this spring, Mr. Webb and Mrs. Engelkes are offering an ACT/SAT Prep Class starting Monday, February 25th.  The cost of the class is $35.00 payable by check.  For more information and to sign up, please see Abby Evans in Student Services.
