Starting next Friday, May 12, immunization cards may be picked up in Student Services at Ames High School. This is an important document that will be needed for college or employment. This health document should be kept with your important papers.

Sixteen Ames High DECA students recently returned from Anaheim where they competed at the International Career Development Conference. Students either completed a 100-question exam followed by a role-play scenario focused on a specific business area or they presented a research paper that they created through work with a local business. Two of the students participated in a Leadership Academy, learning about ways to achieve both personal and chapter growth. Thanks to our business sponsors for their support in making this experience possible: Blue Sky Orthodontics, Hunziker and Associates, Danfoss, McDonald’s, Ames Kiwanis, Pizza Ranch, and Grandgenett Dentistry.

Was your student having so much fun at the Gatsby party that they left any items behind? A jacket? Shoes? A vest? Have them check the Gatsby box in the old main office.

Reminder, girls in grades 9-12, varsity softball tryouts begin this Monday, May 8th at 4:00 PM at the new softball diamond.

Here is a look at seniors’ last few weeks at Ames High:

May 22 7:30 PM Pops Concert

May 23 Last academic day for seniors – Laptop Return ( back up your information)

May 24 7:30 AM Graduation rehearsal in the AHS gym
              11:00 AM-1:00 PM Senior picnic
7:00 PM Baccalaureate at Ames Middle School. Prelude begins at 6:30 PM (Seniors who are attending should be at the middle school by 6:30)

May 28 2:00 PM Graduation at Hilton Coliseum – Graduates should be at Hilton by 1:15. They will march alphabetically starting on the west side of Hilton.

Graduating seniors will receive their cap and gown at graduation rehearsal. All fines and fees must be paid in full prior to receiving cap and gown! Don’t assume that if your senior doesn’t eat lunch at school that they don’t have a balance due. Balances from previous years follow the student until the balance is paid off. Parents can check their student’s outstanding fees/fines via the parent portal. Please check this often the week of May 15th, as some fines are assessed after senior textbooks are turned in. Feel free to call the main office with any questions: 817-0602. And remember, breathe and enjoy the time you have left with your senior!

If you would like to purchase a 2016-2017 yearbook and have not yet done so, it’s not too late! You can purchase one online with your credit card. Senior parents, if you would like to purchase a recognition Baby Ad, you can find all the information at the same link. Just click the link above and then click on the lefthand tab that says Ad Info.
