The last day to drop a class without consequences as long the student has enough classes to be a full-time student is Tuesday, February 6.

As students prepare to sign up for next year’s classes, sophomores and juniors are invited to attend an informational “Lunch and Learn” meeting on Wednesday, January 31 to hear about the DMACC Career Academy and SCALE programs. Students earn both high school and college credit from these classes.  AHS students who are currently enrolled in several of these programs will talk about their experience.  They are:

Seth Henschen – Auto Tech Program

Jacob VerSteegt – Building Trades Program

Grace Perrin – Health occupations/CNA program

Hope to see you there.

The informational meetings will be held in the multi-purpose room at AHS during each lunch period on January 31.  Students may bring a brown bag lunch or go to the head of the lunchroom line and take their lunch to the multi-purpose room.

Winter Musical:  Babes in Arms

A group of young interns, with dreams of theatrical stardom, slave away at the Surf and Sand Playhouse in Cape Cod.  They are secretly working on their own revue while also preparing a production for their cheap and tyrannical boss, Seymour Fleming, and an angry, arrogant southern playwright by the name of Lee Calhoun.  Watch as these aspiring actors and actresses, led by Valentine White and Susie Ward, deal with love, laughter, and “skullduggery” as they try their best to outwit the powers that be.  Curtain is 7:30 PM February 9 and 10, and 2:00 PM Sunday, February 11. Admission is  $10.00 9th grade and older, $8.00 8th grade and below.  Tickets are on sale in the Ames High main office.
