CLUB FAIR NEXT WEDNESDAY

Student Council is hosting the annual Club Fair on Wednesday, Sept 6 in the cafeteria.  During both lunches, students will have a chance to visit with club leaders and look at their displays. The goal is to make students aware of the clubs at Ames High School and to get them involved.

2016-2017 YEARBOOKS

This past week, the 2016-2017 yearbooks were available for pick up.  Although the primary distribution is finished, we still have a few yearbooks that have not been picked up.   If you know you purchased one last year, please ask your student if they picked it up.   If they didn’t, it’s not too late!  They can still be picked up from Mr. Webb’s room (Rm 227) before or after school or during 7th period.  We also have a few yearbooks available to purchase for $55 on a first come first serve basis.   Make checks out to Ames High.

PSAT/NMSQT – SIGN UP IN TWO WEEKS

Sign-up for the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) test will begin Monday, September 11 with Mrs. Evans in Student Services and conclude Friday, September 15.  Cost for the test is $16.00, checks only please, made payable to Ames High School. Juniors are reminded that this is the qualifying test for National Merit. The test will be given at Ames High on Wednesday, October 11.  NOTE: THIS TEST WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 AM (45 MINUTES BEFORE WEDNESDAY’S 1ST PERIOD).

Top sophomores are encouraged to take the test as a practice for next year,  so they are better prepared for when they take the test as Juniors and it counts.

SCHOOL PICTURE RETAKES

Pictures were handed out in homeroom on Wednesday for those students who had their picture taken on August 14th.

On Wednesday, September 27 from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM Lifetouch will be at AHS to take pictures of students who DID NOT have their pictures taken on August 14, and also for those students who had their pictures taken but are not happy with them.  If you desire a retake, students should bring their entire picture package back to the photographer when they sit for their retakes.   We encourage all 9th through 11th graders to have their picture taken regardless of whether a package is purchased. These pictures are used for next year’s IDs as well as yearbook pictures.
