HOLIDAY BAND CONCERT

The Ames High Bands will be presenting their Holiday Band Concert on Monday, December 18th, in the Ames High School Auditorium. The 6:30 concert will feature Percussion Techniques directed by Chris Ewan, the Freshman Band directed by Andrew Buttermore and the Symphonic Band directed by Andrew Buttermore. The 8:00 PM concert will feature the Concert Band directed by Peter Thompson and the Wind Symphony directed by Chris Ewan. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and $10 for a family.

COLD AND FLU SEASON

  1. Guidelines for keeping students home from school:

Please keep your child at home:

For fever, diarrhea or vomiting

For 24 hours after the child is free of signs of fever, diarrhea or vomiting.

       B.  If a student becomes ill at school

If a student becomes ill while at school, the student must see the nurse for assessment.

STUDENTS MUST NOT TEXT OR CALL PARENTS TO COME GET THEM WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE NURSE.

The nurse will determine if the student needs to go home and will contact the student’s parents. Unless the nurse recommends that the student go home, the student’s absence will be unexcused.

DRIVER’S ED

A new session of Driver’s Ed will begin on Jan. 8th, and run through Feb. 12th.   Applications can be obtained from Bridget in the Associate Principal’s Office.

AMES HIGH WRESTLING SPIRIT  

Any student that wears AHS (Orange & Black) spirit wear and brings a Gatorade to our AHS Wrestling home meets will get in Free! Help us fill the Stands and Cheer on our AHS Wrestlers on Dec. 19 at 6:30 pm and Jan. 11 at 5:30 pm! Go Little Cyclones!!

WINTER BREAK

There will be no classes December 21st through January 2nd, as students and staff enjoy winter break. Classes will resume Wednesday, January 3rd, with a regular Wednesday late start.
