Dear Edwards Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Welcome to Edwards Elementary. At Edwards
we have a very diverse student population, and we work to
make everyone feel included and comfortable in our school.
Our staff is here to serve as an educational
guide to further your child’s learning. There are three
essential areas for our students’ success; caring teachers
providing effective instruction, a parent being involved
in their child’s
learning, and support activities that enrich the lives of
children.
Our teachers and staff are well trained
in the use of effective instructional strategies. We focus
on the use of student data to drive what works best with
each of our students. Working together, we determine the
best strategies to use.
We welcome parent involvement. This includes
attending school-related events (i.e., conferences, open
house), volunteering in classrooms and visiting at lunch,
being active in the Parent-Teacher Organization PTO, and
setting clear learning expectations for your child. We encourage
you to communicate with staff in the best interest of your
child.
Opportunities exist for students to learn
outside their classroom, as well as inside. Field trips,
speakers, assemblies, student leadership organizations, and
the related arts are some ways we enrich student lives beyond
the classroom. The PTO promotes family involvement and a
family connection to this school.
Thank you for entrusting your child’s
education to Edwards Elementary and the Ames School District.
We want to work with you to provide Educational Excellence
for your child.
Sincerely,
Mr.
David Peterson, Principal
