Edwards Elementary School Mission Statement
Edwards Elementary School provides a safe and caring community, where all students demonstrate the academic and social skills necessary to be productive citizens.
Edwards Elementary School
Welcome to Edwards Elementary School! Our shared vision states, “We strive to prepare, inspire, and support all students to be learners for life.”
Student success comes as the result of caring teachers
that provide effective instruction, as well as parent(s)/guardian(s) that are involved in their child’s learning. Our students come from diverse backgrounds
that enrich our learning environment, and we work to make everyone feel included and comfortable in our school.
At Edwards we maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for students. We emphasize teaching students to act in harmony with the guiding principles of good character. We do this by guiding students to be positive, independent and intrinsically motivated learners.
Edwards is a K-5 two-section building. It opened its doors in 1951, adding additional rooms in 1956. The school is named after David Edwards, a member of the Ames Board of Education for 18 years. The enrollment hovers around 260 students.
We want to be responsive to the needs of our students and families. As a team we provide Educational Excellence for your child.
Sincerely,

David Peterson, Principal
