SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AREAS

The Board of Education authorizes the following boundaries for the school attendance areas and instructs students to report accordingly.

Elementary Schools (Grades K-5)

Edwards Elementary - 3622 Woodland Street

Northern/Western Boundary - News section written description of the 2007 - 2008 Edwards Sawyer changes.

Southern Boundary - Beginning at a point on 240th and South Dakota follow the south district boundary east to the east end of Maricopa Drive. 4300,4302, and 4335 Maricopa are in the district. All other addresses are outside of the district. Then south to US 30 and follow US 30 east to Elwood Drive.

               Eastern Boundary - Center of Elwood Drive north to Beach Avenue, continue north to Lincoln Way, west on Lincoln Way to Sheldon Avenue, north to where extended Sheldon Avenue intersects Clear Creek.

 

Fellows Elementary - 1400 McKinley Avenue

               Northern Boundary - Starting at Hoover and Bloomington Road/Top-O-Hollow, west on Bloomington Road to north-west corner to district boundary corner.

               Western Boundary - West edge of the district boundary to Squaw Creek, along Squaw Creek/Clear Creek to 13th Street.

               Southern Boundary - Center of 13th Street from Clear Creek east to Grand Avenue.

               Eastern Boundary - Center of Grand Avenue from 13th Street north to 30th Street, west on

30th Street to Hoover, north to the district boundary.

Meeker Elementary - 300 20th Street

               Northern Boundary - Northern district boundary from a point 0.25 miles west of Grand Avenue east to east district boundary.

               Western Boundary - Starting at Hoover and Bloomington/Top O Hollow, south to 30th Street. East on 30th Street to Grand Avenue, south on Grand Avenue to 13th Street, west on 13th Street (south side is Meeker) to Squaw Creek, south along Squaw Creek to 6th Street. Schilletter Village is included.

               Southern Boundary - 6th Street from Squaw Creek east to Duff then south to the railroad tracks, east along tracks to Dayton Avenue.

               Eastern Boundary - From northeast corner of district boundary to East 13th Street, east to Dayton Avenue, south on Dayton Avenue to the railroad tracks.

Mitchell Elementary - 3521 Jewel Drive

               Northern boundary - Beginning at the western boundary line of the district - 0.5 miles from South Dakota along US 30, east on US 30 to Elwood Drive, north to Beach Avenue, north on Beach Avenue to Lincoln Way, east on Lincoln Way to Squaw Creek, north along Squaw Creek to

6th Street, east on 6th Street to Duff, then south to the railroad tracks, east along tracks to Dayton Avenue. North on Dayton Avenue (east side is Mitchell) to 13th Street, then north to district boundary.

               Western Boundary - District boundary line.

               Southern Boundary - District boundary line.

               Eastern Boundary - District boundary line.

Sawyer Elementary - 4316 Ontario Street

               Northern Boundary - District boundary line.

               Western Boundary - Story County Line (500th Avenue)

Southern Boundary - News section written description of the 2007 - 2008 Edwards Sawyer changes.

               Eastern Boundary - Extended Sheldon Avenue (extended to Clear Creek), follow Clear Creek to Squaw Creek to the northern boundary of the district.

Northwood Preschool Center - 3012 Duff Avenue. Ph: 515.268.2470

               Willson-Beardshear houses a variety of preschool programs accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has no set attendance area boundaries.

Ames High School, 1921 Ames High Drive (Grades 9-12)

All students in grades 9-12 in the Ames Community School District are to attend Ames High School.

 

Ames Middle School, 3915 Mortensen Road (Grades 6-8)

All students in grades 6-8 in the Ames Community School District are to attend Ames Middle School.
