AMES—Friday, Dec. 16 is the last day of classes before the Ames Community School District’s two-week winter break. The District’s administrative offices in the Educational Services Center at 415 Stanton Ave. also will close at 3 p.m. on Friday and remain closed until 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan 2.

Although staff in some District departments, such as Facilities Planning and Management and Technology, will take advantage of the “down time” to catch up on projects, the District closes its buildings during winter break to conserve energy and lower heating costs.
