AMES— Iowa Business Educators Association took notice of Ames High business teacher Tim Seifert based on a marketing class project he led that promoted his students’ personal and professional growth. The IBEA gave Seifert the 2011
Hoffman Award at its annual convention held Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, in Cedar Rapids.

            Seifert’s entire class developed community service projects that challenged the students to combine promotional efforts along with fund raising, with an emphasis on managing their projects from conception and implementation to conclusion and evaluation.

Ames High Business Department coordinator Rhonda Schmaltz said Seifert believes in the importance of students’ involvement to help them to gain the most from an experience.

“Mr. Seifert is not a book teacher,” Schmaltz said. “His efforts have positively impacted the community of Ames and the reputation of the Ames High Business Department with members of the business community.”

IBEA is a state wide professional organization for business teachers.
