AMES—Bargain hunters will want to mark Saturday, April 30 on their calendars—that’s when the Ames Community School District (ACSD) will be hosting a “garage sale” and auction of items no longer used or needed by the District.

ACSD Director of Facilities and Planning Management Gerry Peters says selling off the unneeded equipment generates revenue that can be used to help fund upkeep and maintenance of District buildings and grounds.  All monies collected during the sale and auction will go directly to the District Physical Plan and Equipment Levy (PPEL) fund.

The sale and auction will take place on the grounds of the District’s former middle school, located at 321 State Ave.  The public may arrive at 8:00 a.m. to browse and inspect the items up for auction.  The auction will begin at 10:00 a.m.  Among the items available: numerous pieces of shop equipment, welding machines, generators, an air compressor, a large propane grill (used for high school athletics), wood planes, sanders, a kiln, routers, a drill press, table saws, a golf cart with charger (used for high school athletics), miscellaneous doors and frames, a picnic table, a safe, and ladders in varying sizes.

Please call the ACSD Facilities and Planning Management Department with questions at 515.239.3895. Forms of payment: Cash or Check only.
