AMES—The Ames High School Choral Music and Drama departments will present the original stage production of Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's very popular musical "Grease" on February 5th and 6th at 7:30 p.m., and February 7th at 2:00 p.m.
This stage production, set in the 1950’s, broke many box office records during its original eight-year run on Broadway. Following that, “Grease” became an internationally successful movie classic. Audiences will recognize most of the songs and the characters in this high energy, nostalgic stage musical.
Director Steven Woolery says the actors are committed to presenting a production to be remembered, “The cast has been rehearsing long hours with not only regular rehearsals, but also choreography with AHS senior Casey Bagnall. It will be an energetic show.”
Rachel Paxton is in the role of Sandy; Dylan Larson-Konar plays Danny; Frances Hindt is Rizzo; David Shirbroun assumes the role of Kenickie, and Kira Boswell takes the stage as Patty Simcox.
Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adults, and will be available for presale the week of the show. Student activity passes may only be used for the Sunday show. Please remember that parent punch cards may not be used for this musical.
*The directors have attempted to preserve the integrity of the show, and so they are reminding patrons there will be references to smoking, alcohol and mild adult humor. Performances will be held in the Ames High School auditorium.
