Student filmmakers collaborate on their own stop-motion animation masterpiece
Meeker students and staff are proud to invite the public to the film’s premiere at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26 on the Meeker blacktop.

AMES—Students at Meeker Elementary School often work in groups and collaborate on ideas. But seeing their separate contributions meld into a vivid, meaningful concept they could express in a story gave them a new appreciation of the power of working together to learn. They built on that confidence to turn their story about a hungry squirrel in pursuit of an elusive lunchbox into a stop-motion film.

Second annual Ames Middle School Spirit Day is Oct. 3

AMES—A year ago, the entire student body and staff at Ames Middle School gathered to show school spirit in a 2.1 mile walk/run to build community and raise funds for student activities. The Student Activity Council (SAC) says the event was so successful, it’s becoming an event for students to look forward to each year.

AMES—The Ames Community School Board of Directors elected Luke Deardorff unanimously to a second term as Board President at its annual organizational meeting Monday, Sept. 22. A life-long Ames resident, Deardorff has served on the Board since 2011 and works as Vice President and Commercial Lender at First National Bank..
