The Ames Community School District:

  • Kindergarten Registration for 2012-13 :
    Wednesday, February 8, 9 a.m. to noon
    Thursday, February 9, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    @ Northwood Preschool Center, 3012 Duff Ave.


    Children who will be 5 years old on or before September 15, 2012 are eligible to register for kindergarten. All kindergarten students registered on Feb 8 and 9 will have equal opportunity to attend their boundary school. But students registered after Feb. 9 will not have priority, even if they have a sibling already attending that school. Parents who know they cannot attend kindergarten registration should contact Barb Peterson in advance: bjpeterson@ames.k12.ia.us.

New Student Registration for 2011 - 2012

Welcome to the Ames Schools! The Registrar's Office, which processes all new student registration, looks forward to working with each new ACSD family to facilitate a smooth and timely registration process.  If you are visiting our website to register a new student, please follow the steps below:

  1. Complete all of the necessary forms and gather the correct documentation for enrollment. A complete lists of the forms and documentation can be found on the Enrollment Requirements page. This page includes links to the forms so you can print them and fill them out for submission.

  2. Contact the registrar to set an appointment.  After you have filled out the correct forms and gathered all the necessary documents, please contact the registrar’s office via phone or email (515) 268.6605 or bjpeterson@ames.k12.ia.us to schedule an appointment to complete the registration process.


  3. Meet with the school counselor (Secondary students only).  Following registration, secondary students will meet with their school counselor to determine the appropriate class schedule before attending classes.


  4. Additional information – The Ames Community Schools offer new students and their families the opportunity to tour the school they will be attending.

    Students who enroll after classes are full at their grade level in their neighborhood school may be assigned to a different school. Please contact the Registrar for more information and clarification.
