Program Highlights
The Ames Middle School Extended Learning Program (ELP) is designed to enhance and support the curriculum and instruction process for highly capable students.
The ELP teachers work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide learning experiences that challenge high ability students within the classroom setting. The ELP teachers meet frequently with classroom teachers to monitor student progress, discuss opportunities for differentiation and provide assistance to both the teacher and the student.
A Differentiated Education Plan (DEP) is used to track classroom modifications and enrichment opportunities for each identified student. Parents may view the DEP at fall or spring conferences or by making an appointment with the ELP teacher during the school year.
ELP also offers enrichment activities that are open to the entire student body. Seminars and contests are held periodically throughout the school year. Please see ELP Secretaries for more information.
