Thank you AMS parents, students and staff
for you great support of our Book Fair.

The Spring Book Fair was an outstanding success due to your generous involvement. Dozens of books were purchased for teacher collections and over $600.00 worth of books were added to the Media Center collection. In addition there was a considerable amount of cash raised which will be used to further enrich the collection and be a benefit to all Ames Middle School students.

Hours

The AMS Media Center is open from 7:55 a.m. to 3:15 p.m Monday - Friday. Tuesday/Thursday school meets in the Media Center on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons immediately following regularly scheduled classes and ending at 5:00 p.m.

MC Guidelines

• Check-out Policies
  • Students are allowed to have a total of 4 items checked out at any one time. If a student has two overdue items, this must be taken care of before any other items can be checked out.
  • The standard check-out period is 2 weeks.
  • Reference materials may be checked during the day for 1 class period, or after school for overnight.
  • Video tapes and DVDs may be checked out for overnight use.
  • Non-print resources may be checked out with prior parental approval.
  • Notification of overdue materials is made weekly with the expectation that the students will attend to any overdues in a timely manner.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to return borrowed materials in good condition. Damaged or lost items will be billed at the replacement cost

• Computer Policies
  • All students must sign the Acceptable Use Policy as defined by the Ames Community School District prior to utilizing computer resources at AMS.
  • Computers needed for class presentations are to be secured through the teacher for whom the presentation is being given.
  • Students are expected to exhibit good digital citizenship and take proper care of the hardware they use.

• Media Center Passes
  • Unless accompanied by a teacher, for purposes of safety and accountability, all students must have a pass when visiting the Media Center. 15 minute passes are issued by the teacher from whom the student is coming, and given to Media Center staff upon arrival.
  • All period passes are available for use during activity period and are to obtained from Media Center staff before 12:00 p.m. on the day of use. The purpose of these passes is to allow students access to Media Center resources in order to continue/complete work on projects and assignments.

  • Students are responsible for paying production costs for class projects.  The following supplies are available for purchase:

Printer Cartridge Recycling

We accept HP, Dell, Lexmark, and Kodak cartridges for recycling. Proceeds benefit the Media Center. Thank you for your support!
