MLA Style Guidelines for Works Cited
The Purdue Online Writing Lab is an excellent source to consult when putting your Works Cited page together. Their poster provides an MLA style guide overview. The MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (R 808 GIB) is available in the Media Center's reference collection and may be checked out overnight.
General Tips
A works cited page begins on a separate sheet of paper and is titled "Works Cited".
Entries are in alphabetical order and double spaced.
The first line of each entry begins at the left margin. The second line (if needed) is indented five spaces.
Capitalize every important word in a title, regardless of the style used in the orginal article.
** NEW TO MLA 2009 **
The medium of publication must be included for each source cited: print, web, etc.
URLs are no longer required for web entries.
Italics should be used for titles (rather than underlining).
