Many hands-on and application style labs and activities are learning opportunities provided for the Earth Science students. Students in control room learning the processing their garbage undergoes to become fuel from Rob Weidner.  Students learn
that the RDF displaces 2 RRcars of
coal for the power company during
a trip to the Resource Recovery Plant.

In Earth Science, "real-life"
connections are made to the course content. One field trip opportunity
is to the Martin Marietta Mine, Ames facility. This photo shows students learning about the mining operations from one of the plant administrators. The students then went on a tour of the underground mine
