EXCUSES FROM PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
-
MEDICAL EXCUSES: are from the doctor and will be handled by the school nurse. This is in accordance with state law.
Students with Physical Education medicals will be allowed to modify their program and to find their personal limits. The Physical Education staff believes this is a very important lifetime skill for students to acquire.
A temporary/permanent handicap in one part of the body would not necessarily exclude that student from Physical Education. Generally, a student healthy enough to be in school should be able to participate in Physical Education at some level. Some of the options available are:
1. Modification of the class activity to suit limitations
2. Walking program
3. Nordic ski-track
4. Air Dyne stationery bike (can isolate upper or lower torso)

PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXCUSES FOR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
May be sought by a student/parent, but will be determined by the individual physical education teacher. Generally, a student healthy enough to be in school should be able to participate in physical education at some level.
Limited: Student wears uniform and participates, within limitation, to the best of their ability. (5 points possible.)
Total: Student attends but does not physically participate. (0 points)
-
NOTE: When medical or religious needs make a particular unit impossible for a student, the physical education staff will move the student to a different class and teacher for that unit only.
