    About Ames High School :

  • 17 Ames High School students have been named 2009 National Merit Semi-finalists in the National Merit Program.
  • 13 AHS students were named Commended Students in the 2009
    National Merit Program.
  • In spring 2008, the Iowa ACT State Organization and ACT recognized Ames High School for having a student in the class of 2007 earning a
    top composite score of 36 on the ACT college admissions exam. 
  • Ames High School has a Graduation rate of 93%.
  • ACT avg. of 25 and SAT avg. of 1261.
  • 71% of the Ames High Schools 2004 graduating class enrolled in four year colleges or universities.
  • An additional 20% continued their educations at community colleges or vocational schools.
  • Student teacher ratio is approx. 24:1
  • Ames High Students performance on the ACT and SAT annually
    exceed state and national averages.
  • Ames High School rests on a 74 acre campus which includes a 20 acre natural prairie reserve.
